TRUNKHUSTLERS PRESENTS CHECK OUT OUR FEATURE ARTIST, NIRVANA SAVOURY!
"Beauty, brains and talent, I'm a problem! And once the industry realizes, they'll be in a lot of trouble." She laughs… Never intimidated by what is said to be impossible, Nirvana Savoury has no limits on what can be done. Whether it's facing the challenges of motherhood, selling out venues across the country, and simultaneously launching a brand. Her experiences have molded and shaped her to move in an iconic direction.
Born into a legacy of artists in Toronto, Canada, Nirvana Savoury thrived under the guidance of a parental performing artist. Her Chinese-Jamaican mother, a trained dancer, and brothers influenced Nirvana to blossom into a musical trendsetter. "My mother taught me to be independent and to stand for what I believe in, my brothers taught me to be tough and outspoken," she recalls.
By age 14, in pursuit of honing her performance arts skills, she attended Cardinal Center Academy for the Arts. At eighteen, life faced her with her first challenge: motherhood. " When I got pregnant, I was told I would have to choose between a family or a career. Choosing was not an option. I knew I had to have both. I know I want more for my family. Having my son only made my vision clearer. I want to leave my handprint on this globe".
In 2002 Nirvana launched her professional career in Canada with the female trio X-Quisite, where she garnered such accolades as: 1 Most Played Female Group and Urban Group in All Formats, CHR, and most played group A/C Radio. The group received nominations as Best New Artist at the 2002 Urban Music Awards of Canada and Best New Artist (CHR) at the 2002 Canadian Radio Awards. By 2003 X-Quisite was honored with a Juno nomination for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. As a solo artist Nirvana has worked with Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, appearing on the hook for the song "J-A-D-A", for the motion picture "HONEY" alongside rappers JADAKISS and SHEEK. Her vocal styling also compliments the soundtrack to the motion picture "SOULPLANE".
Miss Savoury is proving that success knows no boundaries. Gearing up to launch her first commercial single entitled "Chickn n Waffles", a guaranteed club banger with a catchy hook, and launching a complete lifestyle brand: an innovative kids line based on her alter ego "Kitty Ming", she finds time to continue to inspire youths at schools and communities. Nirvana plans on offering an entertainment lifestyle beyond mediocrity.
Nirvana Savoury is the complete package: mother, artist, entrepreneur and motivator. "I'll sleep in my grave. Right now I'm all about results. I believe in giving your all, doing your research and when that feeling in your gut says you're ready, go HARD!!"

TRUNKHUSTLERS: CHECK OUT OUR FEATURE FASHION- BLANCO LABEL. SHOUT OUTS TO TRUNKHUSTLER'S RICK EDWARDS!
New York, NY-February 16, 2006 - The creator of the Willie Esco clothing line, Willie Escobar Montanez brings about the rebirth of Latin inspired apparel. Willie Escobar, design director and developer of the Makaveli-Branded clothing line is pleased to announce the launch of Blanco Label, a joint venture with Vibes Base Group. Blanco Label will honor Willie Escobar’s Latin heritage by promoting the influence of Latin culture on TV, music, and fashion. It will be a moderately priced Casual and Sportswear collection featuring European fashion inspired jeans, knits, button up shirts, and Polo's. Known for his denim hookups when designing for the Esco line, Willie Escobar is excited by the prospect of combining his vision with the expertise and sterling reputation that Vibes Base Group has in denim production. "The Hispanic Market has long been a sought after segment of the music and fashion businesses," say's Willie Montanez. "In music, the recent crossover success of Reggaeton, a fusion of Reggae, Hip-Hop, and Latin Beats with artists such as Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderon has bought the culture to the forefront with their breakthrough record sales. Similar to how the Hip-Hop movement fueled the urban clothing explosion, the music provides the opportunity to create awareness and provide an entry to the consumer". Reggaeton not only unified the aspiring Latin rappers, but it commands a respect from all other genres of music" say's Willie. "It also speaks to issues that plague Hispanic youth, especially in the inner city who are constantly challenged with choices. Reggaeton artists have struggled for years and been forced to self promote and even start their own record labels to get their music out. Thus it represents the independence we want to portray and the pride in our culture we want to promote. The big labels are coming after these artists so we see the chance to show at a grass roots level that Hispanics are more than just an entertainment resource; we have the capability to expand into other fields. Our years of experience in addressing these needs and concerns make us feel the timing is perfect to introduce a clothing line that directly addresses Spanish culture". Blanco Label will create synergy between TV, music, and fashion to display the cultural pride, values, and creativity that the Latino culture is most known for. It will be for the individual who is trendy and fashion forward and feels pride in his roots. Blanco Label is set to debut in the spring of 2006 during the upcoming 2006 MAGIC CONVENTION. And the line will launch with an advertising campaign featuring many of today’s top Latin artists including: Alexis Y Fido, Play N Skillz, and N.O.R.E.

This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of June 24, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary.
Our commentary this week focused on the U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (and Justice Clarence Thomas' lone opposing vote), the Perez Hilton/Will.I.Am beatdown incident (and it's double standards of PC-dom), the Chris Brown/Rhianna court case ending, the passing of Ed McMahon and some other things here and there.
This week, we had a great interview with one of the lastest up and coming Hip-Hop artist on the rise Roccett of CTE West & Get Your Green Up Entertainment (http://www.myspace.com/roccett).
Some of the topics we covered with this talented and hard working MC included his background in life and music in the West Coast (California), how he ended up building and eventually doing business with Young Jeezy and the CTE Movement, the subject of what an artist has to do to truly promote themselves properly and make a living - as an independent or major label signed artist, staying humble in the midst of a lot of work and some other things!
Due to the length of this week's interview, we do not have new Black Agenda Report or Direct EFX segments this week.
Feel free to check out some recent episodes of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast here on BlackRadioIsBack.com - all of the shows are clean/radio friendly.

TRUNKHUSTLERS PRESENTS THE REVOLUTION WILL BE TELEVISED! A LOOK AT HIP-HOP GROUP, CHANNEL LIVE!
Channel Live has been a multi-dimensional force in the music industry for the past 16 years. Front man, Hakim Green of Channel Live, is an artist, manager, A&R consultant, lecturer, educator and visionary. His group Channel Live, was discovered by the legendary KRS-One and debuted in 1994 with the platinum, Hip Hop anthem "Mad Izm," which was followed with the gold-status album “Station Identification.”
Hakim's tree of life in Hip Hop has been a fruitful one. His consulting work with singer Carl Thomas and producer Mike City brought forth the smash hits "I Wish" and "Make it Alright". He served as A&R consultant for the Carl Thomas’ latest LP "So Much Better." His creativity has also taken shape in visual form with the Nas video "Got Yourself a Gun."
Hakim is currently managing artists and is the Director of Artist Relations for the ‘Stop The Violence’ movement recently brought back by KRS-One. ‘Stop The Violence’ is a multi-dimensional movement that has already garnered support of the biggest names in the Hip Hop industry.
Channel Live’s new album, “A Revolution Televised,” features collaborations with artists such as KRS-One, Monie Love and Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian. The album draws attention to imminent social issues with thought provoking lyrics while providing the beat and essence of raw, real Hip Hop. The first single “Hip Hop Nation,” produced by up and coming beat maker Scanz of the 'Rawkus 50' is already buzzing in the underground and promises to be one of the biggest hits of 2008.
